School Chaplain
As community school chaplain, the chaplain has a specific mission towards the spiritual care and faith development of the entire school population and the promotion of apostolic activities within the school. The chaplain works with the secondary school pupils, their teachers and parents to build up a school community permeated by the Gospel spirit of freedom and love.
The chaplain has concern for the religious well being of the school as a whole, recognizing and respecting that some will be of faiths other than my own and some of no faith at all.
The chaplain has responsibility for establishing and developing a relationship with each pupil with a view to being available to them as spiritual guide and faith friend. This means meeting them on a one-to-one basis with a view to addressing their spiritual and pastoral needs. Special support is given to pupils experiencing home problems.e chaplain works in close co-operation with the Principal, Catechist, Careers Councillor, teachers, with a special role to play in providing pastoral direction for all concerned.
This contact may be at the initiative of the chaplain or of the students.
